Information
This initiative will have you taste the best convent recipes, not just in Alcobaça, but also in other monasteries, convents, and pastry shops – national and international.
Alcobaça has an incredibly rich legacy in terms of Confectionery Products, which inherited the gastronomic traditions of the Cistercian monks, masters of the ancient Coutos of Alcobaça, which occupied the region for over eight centuries.
The famous cornucopia, Alfeizerao’s Sponge Cake, Trouxas de Ovos, Alcobaça’s Ginja (sweet cherry liqueur), and many other traditional convent delicacies remain to this day.
It takes place every year in November.
